At Making the Right Move, our mission is to bring the numerous benefits of Chess to communities all across Delaware. Through affordable and free events, engaging instruction, and accessible resources, we empower individuals of all ages to develop critical thinking, strategy, and confidence—one move at a time. Because at the board and beyond, every move matters—in Chess and in life.
Making the Right Move began a decade ago as the Wilmington Urban Chess Initiative. It was created to address critical issues in Wilmington, such as crime and drug usage by providing a positive outlet through Chess. Now, we’re building on that foundation to bring the life-changing benefits of Chess to even more people by expanding our reach statewide, creating stronger, more connected communities across Delaware.
